Cardiff encouraged us to do lots of work experience, to join seminars to prepare us for universities. They have so many activities, resources and have been very helpful in terms of my US university application. I loved Cardiff, it was so much fun living and being with your friends. I remember sports day when we wore school colours and supported our friends it was amazing!
Cardiff definitely does encourage you to do the best you can in terms of your education and you are definitely getting your money’s worth because the teachers are so supportive and amazing. There are so many things to do there – nothing is too far from anything else in the city. I had my best friendship group in Cardiff and I now have friends from all the different continents. The people and teachers really made it.
Cardiff Sixth Form College really gave me that independence that really allowed me to push forward and gain traction in my studies. It really did prepare me for university, for example debating really helped my communication skills and I don’t think I would be here without the experience that I had there.
I really found the careers department a particular help; the interview preparation that I received and also the entrance tests assistance was invaluable.
Cardiff really helped me develop skills in leadership which I had never done before and I had the opportunity to be in the NASA team, on the debate committee and I was also honoured to be elected as Head Girl which I am very grateful for. I am still in touch with lots of my friends from Cardiff. The staff have been extremely helpful in shaping my career.
They were good at teaching and making subjects interesting and helped me with interview preparation. The careers team has also been phenomenal in terms of choosing which Cambridge college to apply to and how to structure my application. Without both the academic and careers staff I would not be here.
