Trip to Renishaw

trip to renishaw

Last Monday seventeen of our AS students attended a trip to Renishaw. This was a fantastic opportunity to talk about the company, their products and career opportunities there.

The students took part in a coding workshop, first programming a BBC micro:bit, then writing some code in Python to display a message on a wall of coloured LEDs. Students were able to modify the code to print in different colours and make the message move in different speeds and directions along the screen.

After this there was a tour of the manufacturing area where 3D printers that produce metal components were being assembled.

All in all this was a fantastic opportunity for Cardiff Sixth Form College students to gain some hands-on experience in cutting edge engineering.
